Stage 2 Load shedding May Be On The Cards For Later Today

Our victory of not having loadshedding over the weekend has been short-lived after Eskom announced this afternoon that they have shortage in generation capacity. Delays in units to return in Kusile and Hendrina Power station are some of the contributing factors to this. As it stands they have 4 479WM on planned maintenance and 12 951WM is unavailable due to breakdowns. Join us as we unpack more of the story below and share the latest.

Latest schedule

To check your schedule make use of the following ways: The Loadshedding Notifier App, Eskom's Portal or your municipality social media pages. There's a couple of precautions that need to be taken during power cuts and this includes:

— Removing your essential appliances from the socket

— Make sure that when you lit candles you place them far away from material that could burn easily and they are secured on a stable surface.

Korbeg is still in the works

There's been a huge backlog in bringing the nuclear power station into service. New contractors that have been appointed found out that they failed to build a necessary containment structure needed to house radioactive generators. Over the past few weeks they have announced that some of these problems have been fixed whilst a handful of them remain in the picture.
