Diaspora Vote global demonstration Update

Reported by Dennis Mabunga

Zimbabwe's Talent Rusere informed the Zimbabwean citizens in the Diaspora and the foreign community, that the 18 July scheduled date for Zimbabwe's Global Diaspora Vote Demonstration has been postponed.

Rusere via his Facebook page said "Greetings to the Zimbabwean family in four parts of the country and around the world. First of all, I would love to respect all of you for the positions and values you have in Zimbabwe and the communities in which we live. I respect all Leaders of political parties, journalists here present, our lawyers here present, businessmen among us, church leaders among us and all other leadership here present, I respect you.

I would like to thank you very much for the patience you have and for the love and solidarity among us as Zimbabweans and let us remain united until the end.

I am here today,the 6th of July 2021 on behalf of the Zimbabwean Diaspora Vote global demonstration leadership advocating for a global Demonstration towards the violation of our voting rights as Zimbabweans in the diaspora.

It is my pleasure to remind you that, the Constitution of Zimbabwe which is the supreme law of our country, enshrines us a right to vote without geographical limits, which means that the government of Zimbabwe is obliged to create a mechanism or a way for us to vote from the Diaspora without failure because it is our right to vote for the leaders we want as citizens.

I would also like to inform you all that the date of our first scheduled demonstration of *Sunday the 18th of July 2021* has been postponed due to lockdown restrictions in several countries at the moment, therefore we will announce the new date for this Demo on *31st of July 2021* after a thorough review by our organizers.

I would also like to inform you that the *Zimbabwean Diaspora Vote global demonstration* campaign will not go backwards. The Zimbabwean 2023 Elections will not be held without the Diaspora Vote.

We are currently traveling to various countries through our representatives in this movement preparing for the start of this Demonstration.

*Zimbabwe Diaspora Vote global demonstration* will not stop from the first day until the government relinquishes this right. We will close all Zimbabwean Embassies in foreign countries as well as all Borders entering Zimbabwe. We will close all foreign businesses owned by government officials until the government of Zimbabwe respects our rights.

I would also like to inform you that this is not a complaint to the government of Zimbabwe but a demand by the people of Zimbabwe. We are telling them what they have to do according to the constitution of our country Zimbabwe and therefore,we do not expect the government to give us excuses for violating our constitutional rights as a people.

Once again I thank you for your great support, children of Zimbabwe and for the love and passion you have for our beloved country Zimbabwe. Let us remain united and courageous until we are given our constitutional right to vote for the leaders we want in a free Zimbabwe as Zimbabwean citizens in the Diaspora.

*I thank you*

*Talent Rusere*
