A South African lady wrote in a popular tweet, "We South Africans believe that we are superior than everyone else in Africa and that we are on par with Europe and America. This is, after all, how Europeans view South Africa and Africans in general. Africa must come together."
This comes after several European countries published ostensibly racist articles when the Omicron strain was supposedly discovered in South Africa, but was later discovered to be found throughout Europe, not just in Africa. Mzansi sees themselves as the wealthy uncle with a large bank account. South Africans, on the other hand, are currently treated as just another developing country by Europeans. Africa must unite, but it is unrealistic to expect it to do so in a single country.
