Numerous individuals pleaded with the President of the Republic of South Africa and the ruling African National Congress to appoint Justice Mandisa Maya as the new Chief Justice of the Republic of South Africa.
This occurred following the conclusion of the former Chief Justice of the Republic of South Africa, Justice Mogoeng-term Mogoeng's in office.
Unfortunately, despite the Judicial Service Commission's recommendation of Justice Mandisa Maya as the next Chief Justice, President Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa chose to appoint Justice Raymond Zondo in that position following the Chief Justice interview.
Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa, then nominated Justice Mandisa Maya to be the republic's new Deputy Chief Justice.
Today, the president of the Republic of South Africa announced that Justice Mandisa Maya has accepted the new role of Chief Justice of the Republic of South Africa.
