Two men charged with cop’s murder appear in Cape Town court (iol.co.za)CAPE TOWN – Two guys seemed in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of homicide after a police officer became gunned down at some point of an armed theft.

Baxolele Matolo and Luyanda Futile seemed in court docket on costs of murder, attempted murder and armed theft. Four suspects have been arrested.


The case in opposition to the men has been postponed until December 6, for bail application.


The court docket ordered the accused to be remanded in custody.


The third co-accused did now not appear in court as he remains in health facility below police custody.

The fourth accused were released.


The police had been called out following a commercial enterprise theft by four armed suspects on Friday, November 26.


The suspects held the personnel of the enterprise premises at gunpoint inside the building and began capturing at police as they fled.


During the shootout, two police officers attached to the Table View police station and two of the armed robbers were wounded.


Sergeant Nameto Ignatius Molema became shot in the head whilst his colleague, Sergeant Malibongwe Mnani was shot inside the leg.


Molema died upon arrival at the health facility.


Police immediately released a manhunt for the escaped suspects and the case was surpassed over to the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) for research.


Hawks spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Philani Nkwalase confirmed the alternative two suspects have been arrested on Saturday via members of the Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in Bellville in conjunction with Crime Intelligence and the National Intervention Unit.


However, Nkwalase showed one of the suspects were launched as no evidence may want to hyperlink him to the crime.


“One suspect remains in clinic at the same time as any other who have been discharged from health center after remedy was launched as there has been now not enough proof towards him,” Nkwalase stated.


He stated the investigation in opposition to the trio maintains.


At the weekend, network members, establishments and safety forces inside the Table View vicinity all commemorated the slain officer by using hanging ribbons and cards at the police station gate.
