A man reportedly found himself in trouble and found himself appearing in the Mankwe Magistrate's Court .This was after he was charged with rape and attempted murder of his wife .However , he was granted R1000 bail on Wednesday .This was confirmed by the National Prosecuting Authority .The case against the rape and attempted murder -accused Oupa Nkele was postponed to the 7th of February 2022 .
The matter was also moved to the Mogwase Magistrate's Court as it was regarded as a serious offence .The suspect was warned to ensure that he availed himself for the court proceedings . He was also advised against interfering with the witness .Even though the State had reportedly been against the granting of bail , the court decided otherwise .The preliminary report suggested that Oupa who is separated from his wife allegedly called the victim and arranged for a meeting to discuss an urgent matter .As per agreement , he went to collect the victim from her parents' house . As they were allegedly driving towards a local mall,the husband reportedly changed direction and drove towards their house which was located at Lerome village .
The two reportedly got into an argument and the accused allegedly assaulted the victim strangled his wife and proceeded with pouring petrol over her .It was also alleged that he raped her and forced her into the car following the act .
The woman luckily managed to jump out of the car and got assisted by a man who was just passing by. He was the one who helped and took her to the police station , leading to the subsequent arrest of Oupa Nkele .Nkele reportedly got arrested on the 30th of December 2021 . The accused may have been released on bail , but there is a greater need for justice to prevail for attempted murder and rape .
