Kelly Khumalo, a musician, might face accusations of perverting the course of justice in the murder of her lover, Senzo Meyiwa. That is, if the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) decides to prosecute her when a current court case concludes. This comes after the brother of slain former Orlando Pirates goalie Senzo Meyiwa claimed that the five men on trial for his murder are being framed.
The trial has been postponed for April 11th, seven years after Meyiwa's death in 2014. The state and defense reached an agreement on a trial date ranging from April 11 to April 29, 2022. The trial will thereafter be held from May 30 through June 17, 2022. The accused, on the other hand, will be imprisoned with no possibility of release. Sifiso Meyiwa, Meyiwa's brother, said immediately after the court's decision that the five persons accused of his brother's murder are being framed.
"The matter, in my opinion, should now be submitted to the president. The president must now intervene because the country has lost faith in his administration. Initially, the police minister, Bheki Cele, agreed with us [on the true perpetrators] since we both knew them, but he has now come out and stated it's these five individuals. I'm extremely powerful because I'm a God-fearing man who believes in God and has no fear of anyone." Meyiwa said. This scenario is growing increasingly complicated by the day.
Just as everyone thought justice had been served for the former Orlando Pirates goaltender, his brother enters the picture with a big twist. Now that I am in a position where I am unclear whether the accused persons on trial in court are the genuine offenders or not, I am confident that the truth will be revealed in due course.
