
We have all been told to trust the justice system. The police encourage us not to take the law in to our own hands. To leave the law to take its course.
The parents and those who loved Thoriso Themane might feel hard done by the sentences that the four convicted murderers received from a judge.
The convicted four in Thoriso Themane's murder have been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
Today in the Limpopo High Court, Deputy Judge President, Matsaro Violet Semenya says it is 10 years sentences to the accused 1,2,3 and 5 child offenders, while 3 and 2 years of the sentence will be spent at the juvenile facilities.
In many people's opinions including mine, the sentences appear to be a slap on the wrist. No sentence can bring Thoriso back, but the punishment must definitely fit the crime.
It was four people against one person. He did not stand a chance against his killers. The judgment should have reflected that.
