Everyone in Johannesburg is a foreigner except these people

The city of Johannesburg was founded by the Europeans settlers in 1886, following the discovery of gold in the area. Since that discovery of gold migrants flicked into their area to seek that gold. Others ends up living under the bridges.

The Bakwena Ba Mare a Phogolo community is a Tswana clan. It hs claimed that the South of Johannesburg, parts of Ekurhuleni and parts of the Vaal is their land. Their fight to claim their land started in 1995 when ANC was only a year in power.

They waited too long to get their claim heard and when it was given a chance to be heard in court in 2016, it was dismissed. It was dismissed for different reasons like for a claim to warrant the commission’s attention, the claimants must have been dispossessed after June 1913 by the apartheid government. They also need to have a proof that they stayed there and ownned the land before the 1913 expropriation of the land from the blacks.

It is believed that they lived in the area and their place was called Kweneng, which is believed to have gone into decline following a civil conflict with other tribes.

Today, Johannesburg is a metropolitan with people from all over the world from Pakistan, America, Britain, Zimbabwe claiming it to be their home. With the Roman Dutch laws in place, one have to meet certain criteria to be a resident of this place that have been so developed since the arrival of the settlers. Everyone in Johannesburg came from somewhere else except the descendants of

Bakwena Ba Mare a Phogolo.
