Vinpro was left devastated following the decision that was taken by the Western Cape High Court to dismiss the application that had been made by the wine sector against alcohol ban .
Almost 2 600 producers of wine , wine stakeholders and cellars are represented by this non-profit organization.Vinpro had placed its application in January when the sale and distribution of alcohol had been banned .
The application was only heard in the Western Cape High Court in August 2021 .Vinpo was challenging the national ban of alcohol in which it insisted in the application that the ban had to be done per province .
The application also wanted the High Court to declare the alcohol ban as being unjustified and unnecessary. The High Court however reportedly described the application as being moot since the lockdown regulations had been adjusted .The ruling disappointed Rico Basson who is the MD for Vinpro , who described the approach by the government as being blunt .
