On Monday Nowa Makula who mercilessly butchered his girlfriend Nomazamo Mhanti and her 5 children Azakhiwe(10) Yibanathi(7) twins Wineka and Thoko(5) and Luphumlo (6 months)to death in their sleep on 25 November 2020.
He is sentenced to six life imprisonment by the Elliotdale Regional Court Magistrate which showed no mercy on him.
The couple had been dating since 2012 when the pair met Mhlanti had already had four children from a previous relationship all together they had 8 including their own.
The incident took place at Sidabekweni village in the district of Elliotdale. The couple quarrelled over allegations of infertility early in the day before the butchering happened.
He first started with Mhlanti and axe her in the head then proceeded with his killing spree and killed the children in their sleep.
After butchering his whole family, Makula tried to hang himself but the rope disappointed him when it broke 3 times that's when he decided to cowardly run.
He tried to take the easy way out by trying to commit suicide just like most men do after killing their partners but now he will have to face what he did.
He was arrested in Ginsberg near Qonce 300km from the crime scene after he was running for 3 days.
