Pretoria – A man in his mid-30s who was supposed to be questioned about the murder of Hillary Gardee did not show up as planned in the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court.

Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a spokesman for the Mpumalanga police, said that the suspect has been temporarily let out of jail.

"A Nigerian man was taken in for questioning on the afternoon of Sunday, August 14, 2022, and was charged with obstructing justice. He did not show up in court today because the case was not registered. Because of this, the NPA has told the police to talk to an expert, "Mohlala said." "

"The suspect has been temporarily set free, but he will be called back to court as soon as we have all the information we need."

This week, the police in Mpumalanga said that the unidentified man would be in court on Wednesday. He had been arrested after the cellphone and laptop of the dead person led police to him. Reports say that the suspect was found with things that belonged to the woman who was killed.

Five people, including the Nigerian suspect, have been arrested so far in connection with the death of Godrich Gardee's daughter, who was the daughter of the former head of the EFF.

Hillary Gardee, who was 28 years old, was found dead near a plantation. Sipho Mkhatshwa, Philemon Lukhele, and Mduduzi Gama were arrested.

She didn't come home from shopping in Mbombela, which used to be called Nelspruit, on April 29. She was with a child who was 3 years old.

Lukhele and Gama are still trying to get out of jail on bail this morning in the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court. Gama has told the court that he will plead not guilty to the charges and that he has never met Gardee.

Lukhele hasn't said anything yet in the bail hearing that is still going on.

Since then, Mkhatshwa has not been given bail.

Hlabirwa Rasie Nkuna, 36, was arrested last week in Springs, Gauteng province. He was the fourth man to be caught.

During his arrest, he is said to have told the police that he was the one who killed Hillary Gardee.

Nkuna was on the run because he was thought to have killed three other women in Mpumalanga.

He is being charged with robbery with aggravating factors, murder, and having a gun and ammunition without a license.
