Watch: Zuma Arrives At Police Station To Lay Criminal Charges With Heavy Security

Former president Jacob Zuma arrived at the Pietermaritzburg police station to lay criminal charges against state prosecutor, advocate Billy Downer with heavy security.

Zuma who is currently waiting for judgment on the application he made before the court for Billy Downer to be recused arguing that he is not fit to prosecute him due to his lack of fundamental values and Integrity required is now laying criminal charges against Downer.

These charges being laid by the former president stems from Billy Downer's leaking of confidential medical information of Jacob Zuma to journalists.

Billy Downer admitted leaking the information which was marked confidential to a journalist before it was approved by court to be publicised to the public.

Zuma received a thunderous applause as he arrived at the Pietermaritzburg police station to lay criminal charges against Billy Downer.

While some critics argue that Zuma by laying criminal charges against Billy Downer he is showing that he is desperate or rather clutching on straws, his staunch supporter and an RET champion in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Nkosentsha Shezi said Zuma is doing whatever he believes is right even though the judicial system is bound to disappoint him.

Shezi however believes that the Pietermaritzburg High Court will rule in favour of Jacob Zuma next week and also that the charges being laid by Jacob Zuma against Billy Downer are justified.

"I am hopeful, however the environment in which any court proceedings in which president Jacob Zuma's cases are happening is an environment that is poisoned by what seems to be an unfair legal system.

It a pre emptied and preconceived judgment in whatever case that has been brought in the justice system," he said.

Former president Jacob Zuma's daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla was also part of the delegation that accompanied the former statesman to Pietermaritzburg Police Station to lay criminal charges against Billy Downer.
