Kagantso Mafisa attacked and killed his girlfriend Ntswaki Matsobe, accused of having an affair, stabbing her several times.
Outstanding work by the Boitekong detectives led to the arrest of Mafisa Kgantso, just a day after the murder was reported. Kgantso was found guilty of murder and assault with intent to do grievous bloody harm, and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for murder, and 12 months for assault (GBV).
The provincial commissioner applauded the investigation officers and prosecution for securing a sentence, and restated that those who commit gender based violence will be shown no mercy.

Gender based violence, has been is a pandemic across the world, as children and women around the world are subject to abuse from their intimate partners.
To combat it, countries have to provide comprehensive training for judges, prosecutors and law enforcement officers in this area, this will help reduce levels of discrimination against women.
