"There Is No Culture Called Ukuthwala, It Is Rape." - Julius Malema

Earlier this week on women's day (Tuesday 9 August) the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commander in Chief Julius Malema was in Matatiele to address the people of Matatiele at the Maluti Civic Centre as part of the EFF's women's day celebrations, and during the address, Julius Malema addressed a very controversial practice called ''ukuthwala''.

For those who are not aware, ''ukuthwala'' is a very controversial culture and practice from South Africa and other African countries where parents give away or sell young girls to grown adults for marriage, and Julius Malema criticized the culture and practice of ''ukuthwala'' by calling it ''rape'', and said that young girls should only be sent to school instead of being given away or sold for ''ukuthwala''...

"There is no culture called ukuthwala, it is rape. The future of children is school, children should be sent to school, not ukuthwala" - Said Julius Malema.
