A former officer have been found guilty of fraud, cashing out on the money that was found during a raid and successful operation. The incident happened in 2016, and the 61 year old captain appeared in court last Thursday where he was found guilty by the magistrate.
This is ironic as the Hawks are well known to have been chasing fraudster and have won notable cases against big names. No one saw this coming, especially from the captain himself. Will we ever be safe? That's the question a concerned twitter citizen asked as he worried that they might be more within the organization that have successfully got away with the crime.
He was arrested and giving a R5000 daily, he will return to court to be sentenced on the 8th of October, when most pleaded for leniency as the amount he stole equals R4000, some hope the system will make an example out of the 61 year old.
