EFF supporters at Phoenix to march against killings of black people

Over 500 EFF supporters are attending the Economic Freedom Fighters protest in Phoenix on Thursday, under heavy police presence. The protest is against killings of black people in Phoenix.

EFF provincial spokesperson, Vusimuzi Khoza said, " We are taking a stand against racism in Phoenix. We are here to say that Africans have a right to walk wherever they wish and they must not be racially profiled, attacked and killed".

During the unrest last month, 36 people died in Phoenix three of them were of Indian descent.

DA leader, John Steenhuisen wrote to the South African Human Rights Commission in attempt to stop the protest from happening, he accused EFF of stoking the racial tensions already being felt in the area.

"Why didn't he come here and stop us himself so that we can put him in his place" said Khoza. He accused Steenhuisen of not condemning the racism in Phoenix.
