National Shutdown Looming, Against numerous problems faced by the majority (See)

The SAFTU and it allies will be taking to the streets to air their problems and frustrations. SAFTU is planning a National Shutdown against the rising costs of living, rolling blackouts and other economic challenges faced by the majority of the country, on the 24th of this month, August.

The protest was believed to should have happened sometime earlier this month or later last month. Trevor Shaku, SAFTU spokesperson speaking to eNCA news reporter said regarding the shutdown being postponed; "We actually did not move it, what happened it was that we had to consult, so we had an intended date, 24th, and we needed to consult with the working class formations, students formations, leveling political parties, other trade unions, independents and federation and also community and civil organization, which we did on the 5th of August and they adapted and endorsed the 24th as the day if action, as was identified by the National Executive Committee of SAFTU.

The program of the day and where the match will take place in different parts of the country. SAFTU spokesperson said the first step is to start a stay away from work from the masses of South Africa. If the problems are not dealt with, then they will take it to the streets, places of gathering when the time comes they will be dates announcements. He continued and said that the mandate of the day would be the rising cost of living, the prices of electricity, poor public services.
