The Phuthaditjhaba Family, Child, Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit, as well as the Crime Intelligence Unit, successfully followed up on leads that led to the accused's arrest.
The body was later discovered in a nearby field and taken to the government mortuary for a post-mortem, which led to the investigation of a rape and murder case.
On Saturday, September 18, 2021, a seven-year-old girl from the Phahameng Section of the Tlholong Township near Kestell went missing.
She was last seen with a friend of the same age, and her friend claims they ran into a man they knew in the area who gave them five rand and asked her to walk with him.
She did not return home, and the man could not be found as police and the community searched everywhere for him, including the graveyard and nearby farms, where they thought they might find him.
