Cousins to stand trial for killing their relative and stealing his car

Two cousins thought they could get away with an ultimate crime of greed but it has now ended in tears for them.

Xolisa Danster, 26, and Masizole Zenzile, 24, syndicate accused of murdering their cousin.

They did not enter a plea on Tuesday after the court postponed the matter to allow for the trial of self-confessed killer Ricardo Greeves to be heard instead.

It is alleged that on February 3 2020, at about 2pm, Bongani Hina, 34, left his Zwide home and travelled to NU29 Motherwell where he was working with Danster and Zenzile. The three men are cousins. After Hina failed to return home, relatives opened a missing person case with the police.

According to the state, Danster and Zenzile shot Hina before loading his body into his grey Mitsubishi Colt bakkie and dumping him in the Coega area.

They then allegedly drove to Walmer where they tried to sell the bakkie, but when that failed they abandoned the bakkie at Soweto-on-Sea.

Four days later, Hina’s body was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head. Danster and Zenzile were arrested the same day.

The motive for the murder is still unknown. The matter was postponed to June 6.
