New Zealand recorded one case and went in to hard lockdown. SA kids in school with 10000 daily cases

South Africa has always differed greatly with other countries in the handling of the pandemic. South Africa went in to hard lockdown after recording just over 100 cases last year. The country decided to shut everything down and even brought soldiers to help keep people in line.

More than a year later the country has recorded more than 2 and half million with high numbers of death. The early lockdown was lauded by the World Health Organisation last year.

New Zealand has recorded just one case and effectively went under a hard lockdown. The case was from a 58 year old man with no history of travel. New Zealand cases are usually from outside the country. This case made the country nervous and resulted in a hard lockdown for all citizens.

The World Health Organisation indicated the most effective way of curbing the spread of the virus is through the health protocols. Although vaccines are gaining momentum, the Delta variant seems to be outpacing them by a mile.
