The Minister of Home Affairs Dr Aaron Motsoaledi is reported to have tested positive for Covid-19 . As a result of what took place , the Minister has been forced to go on isolation so that he can recover from the pandemic that has killed tens and thousands of people in South Africa .
This development that took place came at a time when South Africa became one of the countries that detected the new variant . The new variant has been named Omicron variant, but it is not known if it is the one that hit the minister or not .The Minister in the Presidency , Mr Mondli Gungubele informed that even though the Minister had tested positive for the virus , he was in good health . He went on and wished the minister a speedy recovery .The minister of Health However has warned that interprovincial travel ban over the festive season has not been ruled out .
