"I Was Forced to Have UnprotectedSex With a Stranger For My Family" Lady Narrates How She Got HIV

On the night of November 30th, Waihiga Mwaura of Citizen TV hosted a live discussion in Nakuru, Kenya, which was attended by a number of people who have been impacted by HIV/AIDS, either directly or indirectly. In light of the fact that December 1st is World AIDS Day, the purpose of which is to eliminate inequities that exist in the world's response to AIDS and other critical health situations, this decision was made.

A lady by the name of Joyce Adhiambo was arrested. Odhiambo was one of the participants at the event, and she bravely stated that she is HIV positive and that she works as a s*x worker in the process. She described how she became infected with HIV in 1998 and why she wanted to pursue a 'career' in the field.

"Hello, my name is Joyce Odhiambo Adhiambo. With 18 years of experience working in the s*xual industry, I have an undetectable virus burden. I am the mother of three sons, albeit one of them passed away in 2018.

My history is not a happy one since I became infected with HIV and AIDS as a result of my cultural norms and behaviors. After my father passed away in 1998, I was compelled to engage in unprotected s*xual relations with a stranger in order to purify my family. It was an order from the elders, and it was carried out. After that, I didn't have any tall relatives who could assist me in finding work because I lacked certifications. That is when I made the decision to work as a s*x worker in order to support myself and my children "She described her story in excruciating detail.

When asked if she would consider leaving what she is doing in light of the lessons she has learned over the years, she responded, "I don't know." "Although s*xwork is a source of income, if I am given the opportunity to find alternative employment or a substantial sum of money with which to start a business, I will do so immediately, especially given my age. I'm now 50 years old, yet I'm still very active."
