Would You Date Someone Who Is HIV Positive? - Opinion

Human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV) are two Lentivirus (a retrovirus subgroup) species that infect people. They lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), a disorder in which the immune system gradually fails, allowing life-threatening opportunistic infections and malignancies to flourish. Depending on the HIV subtype, the typical survival duration after infection with HIV is estimated to be 9 to 11 years without therapy. HIV is a sexually transmitted infection that is spread through contact with or transmission of blood, pre-ejaculate, sperm, and vaginal fluids.

HIV is untransmittable through condomless sexual intercourse if the HIV-positive partner has a persistently undetectable viral load, according to research (for both same-sex and opposite-sex couples). Non-sexual transmission can occur from an infected mother to her newborn during pregnancy, childbirth, or through breast milk due to exposure to her blood or vaginal fluid. HIV is present in these body fluids as free virus particles as well as virus within infected immune cells.

Many people without HIV are in happy, loving, and intimate relationships with HIV-positive partners. A'serodiscordant' relationship is a term used to describe this type of connection.

Your partner's health and life expectancy can be dramatically improved with modern HIV therapy and care. Many HIV patients can expect to live a long and healthy life.

People who are living with illnesses such as HIV have a lot of stigma and judgement they have to deal with in society. Especially because people have less information or misinformation.

They also find it hard to find people who will accept them as they are, and love them. Falling in love could be very difficult for someone infected with HIV, and falling in love should be a privilege that everyone gets.

So if you meet someone and you like them, then you later find out that the person is HIV positive, would you date them? Comment:
