SA Records Nine Deaths, 6 381 New Covid-19 Cases....

THE National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) said yesterday it had recorded 6 381 new Covid-19 cases in South Africa.


"Today the establishment reports 6 381 new Covid-19 cases that have been distinguished in South Africa, which brings the absolute number of research facility affirmed cases to 3 038 075.


"This increment addresses a 26.4% energy rate."


According to the National Department of Health, a further nine Covid-19 related passings have been accounted for, carrying absolute fatalities to 89 975 to date.


"An aggregate of 19 785 993 tests have been directed in both public and private areas," the NICD said.

It said the Gauteng territory keeps on being the focal point of contaminations for the nation as it represents 70% of the day's new Covid-19 cases.


This is trailed by KwaZulu-Natal which represented 10% of new cases and the Western Cape which represented 6%.


Mpumalanga represented 5% of cases while Limpopo represented 3% and the Free State and North West regions each represented 2% of new cases.


The Eastern Cape and Northern Cape regions recorded the most reduced numbers and each just represented 1% of new Covid-19 cases.


The NICD said the extent of positive new cases/complete new tests on Monday was 26.4% which is higher than that which was recorded on Sunday (23.8%).


The association said it keeps on seeing an increment in hospitalisations.


In the beyond 24 hours, the NICD recorded 175 emergency clinic confirmations.


As of 5pm on Monday, the wellbeing division's dashboard affirmed that an aggregate of 133 468 people were immunized in the beyond 24 hours.
