South Africa reaches 94,784 Total Deaths Have Been Recorded So Far, See Full Report


South Africa is currently facing her dark days as the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise. So far, 94,784 total deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus has been reported and this is badnews for the families of the deceased. Fewer than 3,800 new cases of Covid-19 were identified in South Africa as of Friday, on top of the 47 deaths in the past 24 to 48 hours.

Just yesterday, the Institute reported that 3,789 new cases of Covid-19 were identified in South Africa, bringing a total of 3,598,288 laboratory-confirmed cases and this was confirmed by the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NICD) during its daily report.

The 35,806 coronavirus tests on Friday equated to a positive test rate of 10.6 percent when the number of new cases is taken into account. Nearly a third of South Africa's new cases on Friday were identified in Gauteng (1218), with the province recording the most new cases in the country every Monday.

Due to the ongoing review by the Ministry of National Health (NDoH), there may be a backlog of reported deaths from Covid-19. Yesterday, the NDoH reported 133 deaths, 47 of which occurred in the last 24 to 48 hours, the agency said.

The latest deaths on Friday brought the total death toll in South Africa to 94,784. Another 134 patients were hospitalized in the past 24 hours, but the total number of patients being treated is currently decreasing every day.

Monday: 6387

Tuesday: 6 284

Wednesday: 6,035

Thursday: 5886

Friday: 5714

Meanwhile, the country has administered 77,084 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Most vaccinations were carried out in Gauteng (25,058), followed by the Western Cape (11,072) and then in KwaZulu-Natal (10,901).
