For the longest time South Africans have been free from all the so called family meetings. Since it was clear that elections are continuing, the virus misteriously slowed down and only started picking up speed a week after elections.
We have now been told that president Cyril Ramaphosa will be addressing the nation tonight at 8pm. We know that many people have been talking about this and the family meeting has been trending for some few days now. Ever since we knew of the new variant, people have been anxious about the next move that the president will be taking.
If it was possible to contain the virus, it would have never reached South Africa or the world for that matter. It would have remained in China where it is believed that it originated from.
One of the most fear that many people have is the ban of alcohol as we know that it has been banned for numerous time since we started going on to lockdown last year March. We have also seen that people have been panic buying the alcohol. Liquor outlets are now empty and it seems like they have been spot on, because there are high chances that we will move to level 3 or 4 lockdown and we know that alcohol does does not survive under these conditions.
One other thing that might be on the cards is the issue of traveling. The minister of health Joe Phaahla said that there is a possibility of inter provincial ban this festive season due to the high rising number of cases. We know that many people will be moving from Gauteng to other provinces and Gauteng is current a hot spot in the country. There is a high chance that the virus can spread to other provinces during this festive as we move around.
