Bad news for the EFF after SAHPRA rejected one of their favourite vaccine:Opinion

We know that there are many vaccines around the world that have been approved for the prevention of the covid 19 pandemic that has taken the world by storm. However in South Africa there are only two vaccines that are in circulation which is the Johnson&Johnson and Pfizer vaccine.

There has been so many controversies when it comes to the approval of the vaccines. We have politicians like Julius Malema who has been advocating to the approval of the Sputnik vaccine. We saw member of the EFF marching to SAHPRA office in Pretoria were they demanded that SAHPRA should approve Sputnik vaccine. The EFF did this in violation of the covid19 regulations that were put in place.

We know that Malema once said that he want the Chinese and the Russian vaccine and he even accused the president of promoting the European vaccines. At some point he was asked if he has been vaccinated and refused to disclose whether he has been vaccinated or not, saying that he does not want to give people the wrong impression as he might then be asked which vaccine he has used.

SAHPRA has been Engaged in a rolling review of the data for the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine since February 2021.

This vaccine was developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology Microbiology in the Russian Federation. The locally licensed applicant is Lamar International ptu (Ltd).

The vaccine has been rejected by SAHPRA because there is fear that it might increase the chance of men being infected with HIV.

This is really a blow for the EFF because they have worked very hard to ensure that this vaccine is approved in the country. Knowing how the EFF operates, they might just accuse SAHPRA of being in some conspiracy of some sought. It will not be beyond them. Let's just brace ourselves for anything
