The Country Might Go On Level 5 Lockdown From 2 December to 16 January [OPINION]

There have been rumours going around that South Africa will go on Level 5 lockdown from the 2nd of December til the 16th of January.

South Africans have been living like the pandemic is over. People have been having large gatherings and not wearing masks, in those gatherings. Countless times, we have seen videos of people, gathered closely together, at night clubs and festivals. That has led to the numbers of new Covid-19 cases increasing.

JOHANNESBURG - 17 people have died after contracting the coronavirus, bringing the South Africa’s known toll to 89,452.

Over the past 24-hours, 356 tests also came back positive. It is 51 fewer infections compared to the previous day.

On the vaccine front, 23.6 million jabs have been administered in the country so far. Goverment is hoping to have at least 30 million people or 70% of the population inoculated by New Year's Eve and to try and speed up the rollout.
