South Africa continued recording thousands of new Covid-19 cases in a day on Saturday evening. Information from the National Institute of Communicable Diseases confirmed that South Africa had recorded 16 366 new Covid-19 infections .
This implies that South Africa has recorded a total of 3 020 569 positively identified Covid-19 cases to date .There were 21 fatalities that were recorded on Saturday evening, thereby taking the number of deaths to date to 89 865 .
The country has 75 130 active Covid-19 cases , and Gauteng Province has the highest number of active cases on 50 009 .This goes to show that Gauteng Province is the Covid-19 hot spot area in South Africa .
There are 19 715 126 Covid-19 tests that have since been conducted in South Africa .If you develop symptoms related to Covid-19 it is advisable to go and get tested as early detection helps save your life and the lives of others .
