SA has been moved to alert level 4

The President has officially placed South Africa on alert level 4 for 14 days due to the 3rd wave of Corona virus . Here are the new restrictions that have been put in place:

1. Traveling from and to Gauteng has been restricted.

2. Schools to close on Wednesday.

3. Funerals to be limited to 50 people, all other gatherings are prohibited.

4. The sale of alcohol is prohibited.

5. No sit ins allowed in restaurants, only take away or delivery is permitted.

6. Curfew is now from 9pm to 4am.

The President claims that these restrictions are due to the new delta variant being stronger and more contagious and as a means to lessen the strain placed on the healthcare system. He stressed that it is important to keep businesses open and operating but that it is even more imperative that movement is limited so that people can stop infecting each other. Ramaphosa also added that if the covid numbers decrease, the country will be moved to a lower alert level.
