The first in Africa: Cape Town gets sanitary pad vending machine

A clean cushion candy machine project has been dispatched around there.

The occasion occurred at the School of Hope in Observatory on Tuesday evening.

The task is the brainchild of the Menstruation Foundation and O Graceland, a Cape Town Girls' Home.

The clean cushion candy machine project is the first of its sort on the African landmass.

O Graceland organizer Philani Zama said the point was to arrive at schools, and sports centers to help young ladies the nation over.

He clarified the candy machines will be restocked month to month with the assistance of supporters.

"What happens is that each young lady is given a token, and the token gets placed into the candy machine and a parcel of cushions comes out."

Zama said an excessive number of young ladies actually miss school while bleeding, since they don't approach sterile items.

"The measure of days that they miss nearly compares to two months in a year, and that is a great deal of educational time."
