Find out an initiative that will instill relief in Zimbabwean residents

The Zimbabwean members of the public will be filled with relief when they find out that the Zimbabwean government is on the lookout for the Indian Covid-19 strain , in order to ensure that they are safe.

It is reported that the government of Zimbabwe is in the process of conducting genomic tests .This will assist the healthcare department with the determination of the Covid-19 variant , as to whether it has been imported or not.

The Indian Variant is reported to be very transmissible .The decision made by the government of Zimbabwe to exercise caution is reported to have emerged when a resident from Kwekwe who had made a return from India lost his life upon arrival at the Kwekwe General Hospital.

The resident is reported to have passed away when it was on the 12th of May 2021.The bad news is that there are eleven cases that are linked to the deceased Kwekwe resident.

There is a report of a Zimbabwean student who returned from India. The relief however is that when he was tested for Covid-19, the results came back negative.

However , back to the issue of the Kwekwe resident who passed away, the Minister of Information, Broadcasting and Publicity Mrs Monica Mutsvangwa managed to share some details .

Mrs Mutsvangwa informed the cabinet on the 18th of May that when contact tracing was conducted on the deceased Kwekwe resident, it was noted that there were eleven family members who were Covid-19 positive.

The Minister Mutsvangwa went on and revealed why the genomic sequencing tests were being conducted to returning people.She reportedly highlighted that this was being done to determine if there was any importation of the Indian type of Covid-19.


There was another sigh of relief for the Zimbabweans on Wednesday evening regarding the fight against the pandemic.

The good news for the Southern African nation is that there was no Covid-19 related death on Wednesday evening.

This meant that the number of Covid-19 fatalities stood at 15 83 as recorded on Tuesday the 18th of May. The recovery rate regarding the Covid-19 in Zimbabwe stands at 94.3 percent.

Another relief to the people of Zimbabwe is in regard to the daily Covid-19 infections. The number of Covid-19 infections on Wednesday was down to 17 from the 23 which was recorded on Tuesday the 18th of May 2021.As a result of these figures , the total number of infections so far stands at 36 612.
