The number Covid-19 cases are really picking up speed and one can say that it might be because of the new variant that has been detected in South Africa. One really has to admit that our scientist are good because most of the times they are the ones who are able to detect these variants.
We know that this might add to our disadvantage because they will now be calling these variants South African Variants. We know that it has already happened before and now South African has been placed back on the travel ban list by the UK and this has frustrated many people because it just happened without any warning. The tourism industry is really having it hard since the start of the pandemic
In the last 24 hours, the number of new cases identified in the country is 2 828 and the number of death recorded in the last 24 hours is 12 taking the total deaths to 89 783.
The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng (77%), followed by Western Cape accounting for 5%. KwaZulu-Natal and North West each accounted for 4% respectively; Limpopo and Mpumalanga each accounted for 3% respectively; Free state accounted for 2%; and Eastern Cape and Northern Cape each accounted for 1% respectively. The fourth wave is really inevitable.
