BREAKING NEWS: Aaron Motsoaledi SH0CKS South Africa as he tests positive for COVID-19

JOHANNEBURG - Minister of Home Affairs in South Africa Aaron Motsoaledi has tested positive for COVID-19. This comes in days after a new variant was discovered in South Africa and moments before the command council meeting was set to take place. Minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele, released a statement on Friday night wishing Motsoaledi a speedy recovery. Gungubele says the minister is in good health and currently in self-isolation.

The President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa has decided to move the command council meeting, which was set for Sunday evening, to Saturday afternoon the 27th of November. The command council was set to discuss a number or matters including lockdown restrictions for the 25th of December and the United Kingdom imposed restrictions on South African traveling conditions. Government continues to urge all South Africans to vaccinate and observe COVID-19 regulations.

This is a welcomed move from president as news of this variant could cause devastating number of deaths to both vaccinated and unvaccinated citizens. South Africa continues to grow wary of the vaccines as reports that the vaccines already given to millions of South Africans might not work against the new variant.
