Omicron case detected in Zimbabwe

The Deputy President of Zimbabwe Constantino Chiwenga revealed that a case of Omicron a day after making an announcement of the measures that the country has decided to embark on .

He revealed that his department was embarking on genomic sequencing . He revealed this information when he was addressing farmers on Thursday in Harare .

The Vice President who is the Minister of Heath and Child Care did not give details on the origin of the Omicron .On Wednesday , the President of Zimbabwe Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa made an announcement of the measures that the country had decided to embark on in order to help curb the spread of the new Covid-19 variant .

Some of the measures that have been implemented are that the returning residents and visitors have to be in possession of a negative Covid-19 test results.The Vice President Chiwenga went on and called on everyone to get vaccinated .
