South Africa continues to be affected by the pandemic . The cases decreased for the second day in the whole of South Africa . However , Gauteng province was the place that recorded the highest number of new cases . It had 494 new cases and it was the highest in the country . Western Cape was the province that recorded the second highest number of cases according to the information that was shared by the national Institute for Communicable Diseases . It had 386 new cases ,while the Kwa-Zulu Natal province took the third position with 371 cases.
There were some provinces in South Africa that continued to record decreased new Covid-19 cases on the day leading to Sunday . The provinces which recorded the lowest number of Covid-19 cases were Northern Cape province that had 77 cases , while Free State recorded 59 cases . The Eastern Cape province was the other province that recorded less than 100 cases with 93 .This information shows that the pandemic is real thing that needs to be handled with no complacency . Compliance to Covid-19 protocols such as wearing masks , social distancing and sanitising need to be put in place to to help reduce the possibility of transmission .
As of Sunday , it was revealed that the number of new cases in the whole of South Africa stood at 1931 . This took the total number of infections to date to 3 581 359 . The Covid-19 is not only being transmitted between people , but there are deaths as well that keep being recorded . There were 17 people who were recorded as having died from Covid-19 related sicknesses . This took the total number of fatalities to date to 94 177.
