The emergence of the coronavirus variant which was detected in South Africa brought much panic to people and experts.
The variant was found to be more contagious than the original virus. The coronavirus vaccine which was imported in South Africa from the India, the astrazaneca vaccine was halted post studies which proved that it's less effective to the coronavirus variant.
However some good news about the coronavirus variant, South African scientist have discovered out people who were infected by the new variant of the coronavirus developed antibodies against re-infection.
But it's not clear at this time how long the immunity last. The immunity against the non variant coronavirus lasted for about 8 month as reported in the article by WebMD. However whether patients who recover are safe from re-infection is not clear.
