3 Things You Should Do To Help Lessen Your Stroke Risk

Stroke is a disorder that affects the way blood flows to your brain. Without oxygen in the blood, brain cells begin to die within minutes. Learn what you can do to help fight the stroke and prevent the disease from getting worse.

 Stroke types include.

Stroke can occur in two main ways:

 • Ischemic stroke

In 8 out of 10 strokes, the arteries that carry blood to your brain are blocked. Occurs when fat deposits in the arteries are cut off and travel to the brain, or when there is a weakened blood flow due to a normal heartbeat.

 • Hemorrhagic stroke. It is less common than ischemic stroke but can be more severe. The arteries in your brain go up and explode or the weakened flow. Uncontrolled high blood pressure and overdose can lead to this type of stroke.

Here are some things you can do to prevent stroke.

 1. Avoid processed foods, salt and sugar

Processed foods are typically packaged and include options such as cereals, crackers, breads, chips, and lunch and bacon.

Processed foods are often rich in sugar and salt, which can lead to platelets that can lead to ischemic stroke.

 2. Use fish and poultry instead of red meat

Studies show that eating vegetarian but non-vegetarian foods reduces a person's risk of heart disease and stroke.

 3. Include fiber in your diet

Whole grains, nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables are rich sources of fiber. Researchers have found that the daily risk of 7 grams of fiber is reduced by 7%. One whole-grain wheat pasta provides about 7 grams of fiber, just like twice as much vegetables or fruits. Other high fiber sources include beans, legumes, whole wheat bread, and brown rice.
