"My name is Fifi and I'm on anti-depressants and sleeping pills. One day l will be okay." A guy says

Most people do not want to believe that depression is real, l speak from my own personal experiences as an African l have seen families and communities denying the existence and effects of depression.

One might ask, what is depression?

Well, depression (major depressive disorder) is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed.

One gentleman recently poured his heart out to the the world on what depression has done to him in his life. This is what he posted.👇🏾

A lot of comments were shared on Twitter regarding this incident as you will see below in the comments.

My comment to this post would be, there are many different forms of depression, which can easily be misdiagnosed and treated.

For example, if a person is suffering from bipolar depression, SSRI antidepressant medication such as Prozac (fluoxetine) can actually induce mania leading to suicide. Hence, it is important to seek treatment from a qualified psychiatrist for depression and other mental illnesses.
