is an ongoing immunisation campaign against severe acute respiratory syndrome called coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), in response to the ongoing pandemic in the country.

On the 17 of February 2021, South Africa started it's national vaccination drive against the surge of the coronavirus. The program was established as the Sisonke Protocol and it had three phases which would see the whole of Mzansi immunized by the end of the year. It started by prioritizing Frontline workers and the elderly, people who are above the ages of 60 years, South Africa has administered over 5,831,389 vaccines doses across the country as of 21 August 2021. South Africa has accepted the delivery of three different vaccines, (Johnson and Johnson/ Pfizer -BioNTech / and the Oxford -AstraZeneca. With the Oxford- AstaZeneca vaccine suspended due to its ineffectiveness against the new (Beta varient /501.V2).
The total number of people receiving vaccinations in South Africa as of 31 August 2021 are.
Unvaccinated population 50,973,612 people with an estimated total population of 60 million - 84,95% unvaccinated.
Population who are partially vaccinated / only one dose taken from a multiple dose vaccine, 3,424,542 (5,71%)
Population who are fully vaccinated 5,601,878 (9,34%) fully vaccinated in the whole population of South Africa
