Great news for SA| Meet SA's 21 year old doctor who passed matric at 15 with 7 distinctions

Date : 22/07/2021

Thakgalo Thibela, a young lady who hails from Buckbudridge, Mpumalanga is a professional doctor at the tender age of 21. At the age of 21, we normally come across young adults who are still trying to figure themselves out, still studying in varsity but we have strikingly met a 21 year old who is a doctor.

Dr Thibela is from a village called Violent Bank. At the age of 6, she began primary school at Farel Primary School. She was the best academic learner from grade 1 to 6 and was promoted to 8 when she reached grade 7 due to her academic excellence.

Dr Thibela commenced with her high school studies at Lehlasedi High School. She continued being the best academic learner and was then, yet again promoted, this time to grade 10.

"I was top of the class the throughout and as a result I was promoted to grade 10 within a week after the school principal had realized my potential.", said Dr Thibela .

Dr Thibela's academic performance deteriorated when she got to grade 11. She struggled with her studies and was not perfomed as well as she used to anymore. Seeing the challenges she was experiencing, she decided to attend extra classes, Saturday classes and studied with a group of friends in order to improve her results so they can be above average again. She overcame and passed her matric remarkably well. She achieved 7 distinctions.

Dr Thibela went to the Wits University where she studied Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. She obtained her qualification in record time. She performed well yet again and got into the Golden Key Society. She was also recognized for her excellence by the University.

Dr Thibela is doing her practical scary the Helen Joseph Hospital.

"What I like about my job is that even though I look young, patients never refuse to be examined. Instead, they are surprised and ask me how old I am and complimenting me for being a doctor at an early age."

Doctor Thibela is impressive and shows that nothing is impossible. Let no one undermine you and tell you can not do it. Although our journeys are different, fight to achieve your dreams, work hard, remain focused and committed. You can do it and your dreams are valid. Get up and make yourself proud
