Health Professions Council CEO On Precautionary Suspension After Fraud Allegations

Acting wellbeing pastor Mmamoloko Kubayi has put the CEO of the Health Professions Council of SA (HPCSA) on prudent suspension after claims of extortion and defilement. 

Kubayi suspended David Boikhutso Motau with prompt impact. 

The charges come from his residency as the top of the Free State wellbeing office. 

"Dr Motau was designated HPCSA CEO recorder in June 2021 and his prudent suspension is required by the reality of the charges and its consequence to moral elements in the wellbeing society," the wellbeing division said in an explanation. 

Motau was one of 13 blamed who showed up under the steady gaze of the Bloemfontein officer's court on Monday in the wake of being captured by the Hawks. 

"It is affirmed that over the span of the administrative review in the Department of Health, the review group from the inspector general mentioned data on specific installments to specialist organizations and thusly questioned the acquisition measures that were followed," said Hawks representative Capt Christopher Singo. 

"Accordingly, an interior examination followed whereby it was found that bogus or fashioned 'demands for installment advices' were submitted during the time of January 2011 to December 2015 for installments concerning the specialist co-ops. 

"It is additionally claimed that no proof could be discovered whether the real administrations were delivered by the specialist organizations. 

"An aggregate sum of more than R8m was paid to the specialist organizations." 

The case was delayed to Sept. 22. Motau was delivered on bail of R5,000.
