Finally the government came clean on the vaccines

The health minister said that every South African must be vaccinated as a patriotic act and moral responsibility to their grandparents and those with a weak immune system.

However, he said that the government has no intention of forcing anyone to take the vaccine because ultimately it's for your own good.

While the government has no intention to make vaccination mandatory, we also have no intention to interfere in the internal policies of private and independent companies.

The government seems to be banking on companies and institutions to mandate the vaccine if their drive started to slow down. So far companies like Discovery have started to mandate vaccines at the workplace and sooner rather than later many companies are expected to join.

So far 34% of the population has been vaccinated with a 70% target by the end of the year. The recently launched Vooma campaign is expected to ramp up the vaccination which has been slowing down in the last couple of weeks to 200 000 jabs a day.
