Here is to whether the SA Cabinet decided to make vaccination mandatory

The Ministry in the Presidency released a statement on the Virtual Cabinet Meeting that was held on Wednesday. One of the issues that were looked at was that of vaccination.

It was unknown how the Cabinet would handle the issue of vaccination of the people. It is great to note that the Cabinet managed to touch on the issue of vaccination.

The Cabinet did not mention anything about making vaccination mandatory in South Africa. However, the Cabinet supported the initiatives to promote vaccination.

One of the initiatives that were approved was the Vooma Vaccination Weekend. It is a two-day vaccination program set to take place between the 1st and 2nd of October 2021.

Members of the public who are adults will have the opportunity to walk in at any health facility and get vaccinated without an appointment.

It is great to note that the South African government is not making vaccination mandatory for its people as people have the right to choose what they want.

Even though refusing to get vaccinated for various reasons is a big setback in the battle against Covid-19, everyone´s choice needs to be respected. Another issue that was looked at by the Cabinet is the issue of Gender-Based Violence and femicide. Even though the Cabinet announced that there had been an approval of the publication of the National Council on GBVF of 2021, there is still a long way to go towards dealing with the perpetrators of Gender-Based Violence. South Africa needs the introduction of the death penalty on all killers of women and children.News24 reported a girlfriend killer from North West who killed a new partner when he had been released on parole.

This goes to show that imprisonment is not enough for the killers of women and children. Imprisonment is only a change of environment for the perpetrators.

The country needs more than just imprisonment to put an end to violence against women and children.
