The country is currently in the third level of the lockdown. Given the rise in cases it seems this level is not doing enough to keep cases low.
The president is worried about rise in infections especially in provinces like Gauteng which has become the epicentre of infections.
Tonight the number of new cases reported are standing at 18 762 and the cumulative cases is 1 895 905. Sadly the number of deaths has increased by 215 which brings the total to 59 621.
Teachers are currently receiving the Johnson and Johnson vaccines across the country. This will assist in ensuring that the academic year is saved and more teaching and learning can continue.
With cases this high, now more than ever people should stay home more and only leave home only if it is absolutely necessary.
When going out, the health protocols are important. Remember to sanitise regularly, wear your masks properly, wash your hands with soap and keep a safe social distance of at least 1,5 metres.
