Registration and vaccination is now open for young people aged 12- 17 years old with Pfizer vaccine

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

-Anyone 12 or over can now get a COVID-19 vaccine

Registration and vaccination is now open for young people aged 12- 17 years old with Pfizer vaccine. Parents, caregivers and legal guardians are encouraged to help eligible young people to register and vaccinate at any public or private vaccination site.

The Children’s Act 38 of 2005 provides that children over the age of 12 years can consent to their own medical treatment or that of their children, if they are of sufficient maturity and can understand the benefits, risks, social and other implications of the treatment.

Parents should have open discussions with children about COVID-19 vaccine benefits to make an informed health choice.

Vaccination Registration for 12-17 year olds can be done by:

-Calling 0800 029 999 (Toll free, Mon-Fri: 7am to 8pm, Sat-Sun: 8am to 6pm)

OR

-Go to vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za on the web and follow the instructions
