As theere was a notification regarding the new Covid-19 Variant , the Minister highlighted that it was too early to tell what action will be taken in order to help curb the spread of the new variant .The variant has already been noted in some cases in Gauteng .
The scientists also believe that it may have also be present in other provinces .The minister informed that his department became aware of the variant on Wednesday and as such , no consultations had been made .The minister did inform however inform that consultations would be made even though it was not known what action would be taken .
The Coronavirus Council , the Cabinet and other appropriate stakeholders will be consulted in regard to the new variant .Minister Joe Phaahla went on and encouraged people to get vaccinated against the pandemic . He said that if more people get vaccinated , it will help limit the mutation .
