Dr Zweil Mkhize has just announced the news that will surely make many South African people to rejoice. Some time ago, it was reported that the vaccine that the government had initially bought had a low efficacy against the new variant virus. Another issue that grabbed the attention of majority of South African was the fact that, the vaccine the government was due to expire in April.
And for days, many South African people talked about this issue at great length. Some people even asked if the government wouldbe refunded for that. South African people asked themselves hard questions. Mainly because they were very concerned. And now Dr Zweil Mkhize's announcement will surely reassure many South African people.
The Corona Virus pandemic has greatly affected many people's livelihoods; so it is understandable why people reacted the way the did, when they initially heard that the vaccine that the government had procured had a low efficacy against the new variant virus.
The Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize announced that "the Serum Institute of India has fully refunded South Africa for the 500 000 additional doses of AstraZeneca that didn't arrive in the country"
This announcement will surely make many South African people to be relieved, because times are hard; and people are looking at how the government is spending the money.
