Tips For Conquering HIV.

TIPS FOR CONQUERING HIV

Before HIV throws you into despair, here are some tips from someone who has conquered it and its friends (TB, pneumonia, dementia etc) in a span of living with HIV for over twenty-five years.

NO LONGER A DEATH SENTENCE

It is no longer a death sentence. Unlike in the nineties , HIV is now manageable with ARVs, positive living and faith. Believe that you will live and not die as some people equates it to death. You are going to live many more wonderful years.

TAKE YOUR MEDICATION

Adhere to your ARVs. This include taking your daily dose(s) as prescribed everyday and sticking to your set time.

TREAT ILLNESSES ASAP

If you encounter any illness, minor or major, immediately get medical attention for it. Mind you, with your slightly compromised immune system, minor illness can easily become major to you.

QUIT OR REDUCE INTAKE OF HARMFUL HABITS

Heavy drinking and drugs can easily derail your journey and focus in conquering HIV. In addition, you may cause other health complications eg liver and lung problems. Quit those harmful habits or reduce your intake up until you are able to quit.

EAT NUTRITIONALLY

Do your best to eat foods rich in nutrients rather than just filling up your stomach. Fruits and veggies are a must. We are what we eat.

EXERCISE

Any form of keeping your body busy is good. If you can't join the gym, take walks, run or engage in chores that will ensure that your body is active.

CONDOMIZE

Many people assume that just because they are already HIV positive, there's no need to use protection. You need to protect your loved ones from contracting HIV from you and yourself from re-infection or getting a different strain of HIV.

HAVE FAITH

Any form of faith empowers one spiritually. It is important to have faith so that it inspire hope in you when you feel a little down.
